Artist's Comments

I made this dress from uncarded sheep's fleece (which I felted into individual tendrils and attached in an ombre to the quilted skirt) and a wool tartan plaid. The Jacket is made of hundreds of pleats hand sewn to a black silk base, and the hat is a rabbit fur felt base with a bit of vintage fox fur and a tartan rosette.

The skirt is sheered fleece. There weren't any animal killed or hurt. The fur was sheered off both for the felt in the hat and the fur on the skirt just like it is for sweaters and sock wool, it feels like a haircut to the animal. I got my materials from family farms insuring that the animals were treated in a humane way (more so than any commercial product would have been by far.)

It's based on the character of Lady MacBeth. I made the jacket proportion cropped and top heavy to create a removable masculine silhouette. And tried to create and saturated Scottish feeling with the dress that conveyed power and sexuality.

Lady MacBeth Dress by ~pas-malDesign Pleats, faux silhouette construction, character interpretation, and a lot of wool. Everything in this dress screams proffesional, not to mention high fashion highlands. Theres not a fur out of line and the shapes created with it are lovely. Love the sheep wool! ♥ The model looks very high fashion unlike in other shows I've seen. I love the gloves, and the overall construction is flawless. Bravo.

I have always tried to design things that are unapologetically beautiful, and I don't think there's anything wrong with that. If I can inspire an appreciation for grace and elegance, that would be the ultimate fulfillment of my life's ambition.

"like roadkill- it's flat, but not necessarily thin"

I think this should be in Artisan Crafts > Textiles > Clothing.

Thanks- the wool was a real pain to do, but all in all I think the effort was worth it. Nothing would have acheived the same look. We used ford and elite models for the show, I got really great girls for my pieces. I think closing the show and being the center of attention really made them love my work and do their best.

i'll work on that, still finding my way around this place. thanks.

thanks. i'll try to get some better pics up... really this one is terrible and doesn't do the dress much justice.
:iconascenterra:
I want it badly :3
